Pasta is one of the oldest processed foods we know of. Ancient Etruscans were known to grind a blend of cereal grains, mix the flour with water, shape the resulting dough into small pieces and dry these in the sun. This delicious, nutritious and portable staple could be cooked in boiling water as needed.
At Roan Mills we make our pasta in much the same way. Our flour is freshly milled on our 20 inch Meadows Mill to a very fine granulation. Mixed with water, the resulting dough is rolled into a thin sheet and the noodles are cut, dried and ready for use. Nothing showcases the flavor of freshly milled whole grain flour better than this simple product made from just two ingredients.
The cellophane bags we use to package our Roan Mills pasta are 100% biodegradable and can be included in your compost bin with yard and kitchen scraps.
